Description

This is a Bizen sake cup by Hisanaga Koide, who has made his long-awaited debut after completing a lengthy apprenticeship under Juro Harada. This sake cup features a unique design inspired by the "Yabure-oke" (broken bucket) water jar, a masterpiece of ancient Bizen ware. The interior and base are crafted with exceptional flatness and no distortion, and the diagonal cut at the rim, designed for ease of drinking, conveys the artist's meticulous care. The firing creates a weathered "hi-dasuki" (fire-cord) effect that emphasizes the rustic aesthetic of a broken bucket, while the fallen-leaf hue of the base evokes the melancholy of a well-worn wooden vessel. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 6.5cm × Diameter 5.6cm × Height 5.3cm Hisanaga Koide was born in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, in 1978. In 1997, he became an apprentice to Juro Harada. He went independent in 2011 and built a climbing kiln in Ushimado-cho, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture. He fired his first kiln in 2013.
