Description

This Bizen tea bowl is by Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes his work by fermenting the emotions of daily life, drawing inspiration from the Bizen pottery tradition that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people over generations. Crafted in accordance with the ancient Bizen style, the piece is formed using the coil method and then shaped by scraping away excess clay with a spatula. The fine, earthy texture—marked by the remaining spatula strokes—complements the gradation of autumnal hues, offering a visual depth that never tires the eye. The interior (mikomi) is generously coated with "goma" (ash glaze), making it practical for use. It is a tea bowl that uniquely embodies Shusaku's desire for the user to "experience the emotion of putting it to your lips and cradling it in your palms." Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
