Description

This is a brand new Bizen sake cup, fresh from the kiln by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of the leading master of the Kaneshige lineage, Kosuke Kaneshige. The dark, well-fired kiln-altered colors will gain even more luster as they absorb moisture, fully showcasing the true pleasure of Bizen sake ware: the way it matures with use. The subtle, rosy "nuke" (fire-scar) is intriguing, and together with the earthy texture of the interior, gives the piece an outstanding atmosphere. The vigorous trimming of the foot—a skill inherited from his father, Kosuke—is magnificent; the "tokin" (warrior’s helmet) style foot is well-fired to a deep black even at the very tip, giving it an impressive, powerful presence.
