Description
This is a Bizen katakuchi (spouted bowl) by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige lineage. It is a convenient, easy-to-use size for serving a side dish. The well-fired, dry yellow sesame glaze (kigoma) scatters from the rim toward the interior, offering the quintessential, refined "withered" aesthetic of Bizen that is delightful in tableware. The interior features a practical hidasuki (fire-cord) pattern—not for decorative stacking, but purely functional—which absorbs moisture during use, creating an indescribable, weathered patina over time. Whether you wet it before use or it gets wet during service, you can enjoy the transition of the earth-like quality characteristic of Bizen ware; it is a "beautiful vessel" that reliably supports any dish and enhances the dining table.
