Description

This is a hexagonal sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto's latest exhibition. It is part of a series that expresses the world of *chaji* (tea gatherings), featuring formal implements used in *cha-kaiseki* rearranged in the Bizen style. It recreates the hexagonal sake cup—a highly prestigious vessel often served alongside an *azuke-tokkuri* (sake server)—in the Bizen technique, making it a work born from the truly creative ingenuity of a "creative homage." The *goma* (ash glaze), fired firmly with a determined front, is deep yellow and flows in a thick, rich manner, possessing a glamorous yet profound quality distinct from the rustic aesthetic of everyday wares. Just like the *Ki-Seto* original, the foot is designed with its eventual use in mind; it features a stable base that ensures security while allowing for the subtle changes in flavor that come with handling, making it a truly superb piece. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 7.9cm x 7.8cm x Height 4.9cm
