Description

This is an earlier work of Ibe Hidaski Guinomi (sake cup) by the perennially popular artist Yuho Kaneshige, the third son of the legendary tea ceramics master Sozan Kaneshige. It features a soft Hidaski (fire-cord) pattern that captures the essence of the Sozan style at a glance. It possesses what can truly be called the ideal Hidaski landscape, seamlessly blending thick, bold fire-cord markings with delicate, ethereal ones. The cylindrical elongated body and wide foot are signature forms that Yuho inherited from his father, Sozan. A biography from around the year 2000 is included, suggesting it dates from that period. (*Please note that although there is almost no sign of use, this is an earlier work.) Tomobako (signed wooden box with four-way interlocking joints)
Diameter 6.0cm × Diameter 5.9cm × Height 6.7cm Yuho Kaneshige was born as the third son of Intangible Cultural Property holder Sozan Kaneshige. He began studying ceramic techniques under his father in 1975. In 1980, he became independent and held his first solo exhibition in Okayama. He primarily creates tea ceramics, such as tea bowls, water jars, and flower vases, as well as tableware. For his tea bowls, which he is particularly fond of, he emphasizes the interior form (mikomi) while pursuing balance on the exterior. He has received the Sanyo Shimbun Award at the Prefectural Exhibition, the Encouragement Award at the Tea Ceremony Form Exhibition, and the Encouragement Award at the Tanko Biennale. In 2003, he received the Japan Ceramic Society Award. He is also dedicated to his solo exhibitions, which are held at various venues.
