Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Takashi Soga, who challenges the beauty of antiquity by recreating the same environment in which old Bizen pottery was fired. While it features a simple composition of only clay texture and "goma" (ash glaze), the high quality of the clay itself makes it a truly captivating piece. The "hidasuki" (fire-cord) pattern, applied in planes rather than lines, is exquisite, creating lustrous shadows against the matte surface of the clay. It is a sake cup that you will never tire of using daily, one that will grow more refined and irresistibly sophisticated over time.
