Description

This Bizen sake cup is the work of Kazuki Nakamura, who creates deeply evocative pieces following in the tradition of the master sake vessel makers Rokuro and Shin Nakamura. It is a charming sake cup featuring a design reminiscent of a katakuchi (sake pouring vessel). While the size is slightly smaller than Kazuki’s usual work, giving it a modest impression, the masterful shaping—such as the constricted body for a better grip and the alluring rim—hints at a seasoned maturity. The wine-red clay, with its slight reddish tint, complements the greenish sesame glaze beautifully. Signed wooden box (double-slatted)
Diameter 8.0cm (including rim) × Diameter 7.3cm × Height 4.5cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Shin Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to hone his pottery skills. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
