Description
This is a new Bizen sake flask by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. It is his latest work, fired in the spring of 2016, and the kiln firing was apparently a great success, resulting in a magnificently fired sake flask. The piece features a stunning balance between a lead-colored, shimmering kiln transformation and a fresh, sunset-like scarlet hue. The vivid kiln-altered surface captures the heart in an instant, while the piece offers deep satisfaction as the scarlet tones evolve further with continued use. The sloped-shoulder form reflects the Sozan aesthetic, but a subtle constriction in the body creates a natural grip for the ring finger; combined with the length of the neck, this makes for an exceptionally comfortable piece to hold.
