Description

These are newly fired Bizen beer tumblers by Takashi Soga, an artist who challenges the beauty of antiquity by recreating the environment of the era when Old Bizen was fired. To replicate the style of the Old Bizen period, he avoids the use of modern refractory bricks, firing them in a kiln that defies contemporary common sense regarding thermal efficiency. As a result, these pieces transcend modern aesthetics, exhibiting a superb earth texture that approaches that of Old Bizen. These beer mugs possess a magnificent surface that fulfills the dreams of ceramic enthusiasts who have long wished to drink cold beer from Old Bizen and enjoy that gentle texture in their daily lives. The matte, moist texture makes these pieces look as though they have already aged for hundreds of years, despite having just come out of the kiln. They are crafted to be thin and lightweight, allowing you to enjoy this exceptional texture without any feeling of heaviness.
