Description

This Oribe glazed rice bowl is the work of Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create crafts that suit modern life. While learning the depth of Bizen pottery from Kawabata, Nakahara has created a rice bowl characteristic of his style, incorporating glazes to improve convenience. The interior retains the exposed Bizen clay, providing enjoyment through the *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings while also helping to regulate moisture. The rim is glazed with Oribe, which serves to both reinforce the edge and ensure a smooth feel against the lips, making the piece well-suited for use as a tea-soaked rice bowl or a wide bowl.
