Description
This is a newly fired Bizen sake cup by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. Created from a firing that took place between late May and June 2016, this latest work utilizes a slightly modified firing technique, successfully drawing out the full potential of the clay. After carefully aging high-quality pottery clay refined through the Kaneshige family's meticulous traditional preparation methods, the artist has unleashed the latent power stored within the earth. The brilliantly clear scarlet hue achieved through careful firing blends seamlessly with the soft, crusty *kase-goma* ash glaze, resulting in a masterpiece that allows you to fully savor the true essence of Bizen ware—the quality of both the clay and the firing. The entire interior of the cup displays a stunning scarlet color, which deepens into an even more luscious texture when moistened with sake.
