Description
This is a newly kiln-fired Bizen sake cup by Mashiro Aiga, an artist who creates uncompromising, steadfast works. It is a brilliant display of the soil-color transformations that only emerge through intensive firing—a true hallmark of Aiga-sensei, who specializes in the firing process among the many Bizen ceramicists. Typically, the more Bizen ware is fired, the harder and more colorless the surface becomes, but this piece features a moist texture rich in colors like reddish-purple and ocher. The interior also displays a "shiso" (perilla) color distinct from the outer rim, creating a mysterious convergence of diverse hues beneath a powerful firing.
