Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup, fresh from the kiln by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige lineage. Created in the latest firing between late May and June 2016, this piece utilizes a slightly modified technique that succeeds in drawing out more of the clay's inherent characteristics. It is a top-tier sake cup that showcases the hallmarks of this firing: a brilliant scarlet hue and soft, white *kase-goma* (matte sesame glaze), alongside the rich black sesame glaze typical of the Kaneshige family. While the magnificent scarlet on the front is captivating, the interior also features a small, circular orange *marunuke* (unfired spot), making this a luxurious piece to enjoy from any angle.
