Description

This is a newly kiln-fired "Orihi" (Oribe-Bizen) glass by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create works that suit contemporary life. This Orihi piece combines the stain resistance and usability of Oribe glaze with the charm and aging process of Bizen clay. Creating his Bizen ware in the heart of Osaka, Nakahara-sensei incorporates inspiration from artificial objects like polyhedra into his work; this piece is no exception, featuring a stunning polyhedral form and a stylish, innovative foot. The interior features a *hidasuki* (fire-cord) firing technique, seeking the Bizen effect of enhancing the flavor of drinks and the tactile pleasure of use, demonstrating how he masterfully integrates the best of both Oribe and Bizen with high design sensibility.
