Description
This is a hexagonal sake cup with *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his mastery of clay, firing, and craftsmanship. In a style characteristic of Morimoto-sensei, who pours his passion not only into antique ceramics but also into the study of tea ceremony utensils and *chanoyu*, he has brilliantly captured the serene, *wabi*-infused world of an original Ki-Seto hexagonal sake cup through the medium of *hidasuki*. The clay used was chosen for its clean, refined texture to suit this aesthetic, resulting in a prestigious *hidasuki* landscape where vibrant, deep red cords are cast across a clear white surface with vigorous, sweeping motion. The interior, or *mikomi*, features a magnificent, full-surface *hidasuki* wash capable of satisfying even the most discerning connoisseur of tea ware, making this a tour de force that perfectly embodies Morimoto-sensei’s technical prowess and deep erudition regarding tea ceremony implements.
