Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige family. This latest work was fired in his father’s kiln between late October and November 2016, and it continues the trend of having a very deep overall coloration. In particular, the *kase-goma* (stony sesame glaze) coating the entire surface has a stronger bluish tint, with the typically deep green *kase-goma* transforming into a smoky light blue that is a delight to behold. The texture of the *kase-goma* itself has been refined to a wonderful quality through careful finishing; this is a piece I would especially like those who dislike the rough feel of *kase-goma* to experience. The rich, soft, and clay-like quality characteristic of the Kaneshige family spreads across the interior, allowing you to easily enjoy the fragrant, evocative nature of the clay along with the aroma of your sake. While the large, generous form has a unique, bell pepper-like shape, it is surprisingly light. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipment)
