Description

This Bizen sake cup is by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with a superior aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Reflecting the work of an artist who pours his heart into the study of ancient ceramics, this is a magnificent piece where a weighty yellow sesame glaze (kigo) and a distinctively alluring clay texture harmonize as one. The interior features a generous application of yellow sesame glaze, while the exterior displays a rich, melted clay texture, allowing one to enjoy two types of beauty in a single piece. The interior glaze offers the joy of use through the coating on the rim and the way the sake reflects the vivid yellow hues, while the exterior’s melting clay texture promises to change with repeated use—a masterful way of drawing out the charm specific to each part of the vessel that is truly characteristic of Morimoto-sensei. Signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
