Description
This Bizen sake cup is the debut work of Hiroshi Goseki, who was born in Chiba Prefecture but, captivated by Bizen ware, trained under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki. This piece was created and fired at Jun Isezaki’s workshop during his apprenticeship. It features a coarse "mogusa" clay body adorned with a "men-hidasuki" (surface fire-cord) pattern that evokes the image of dancing flames. The piece applies a bold, contemporary arrangement to the "takatsuki" (pedestal cup) style, resulting in a finish characteristic of the Isezaki school.
