Description

This is a Bizen beer mug by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young artist who was an apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. This extra-large beer mug showcases a bold form, masterfully crafted from Bizen clay, which is soft and prone to deformation. The fine, uneven texture of the unglazed, high-fired Bizen ware helps create a finer foam for your beer. By pouring the beer in two or three stages, the foam will layer beautifully. Furthermore, chilling the mug before use not only provides a pleasant cold sensation, but also dampens the surface, making it look visually stunning. (The black spots on the front are iron deposits.) Diameter (including handle) 13.0cm x Diameter 9.4cm x Height 13.2cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Inspired by his father's love for ceramics, he pursued a path in pottery. After graduating from high school, he studied under the father-son duo of Sozan and Yuho Kaneshige starting in 1989. After seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 and set out on his own, successfully firing his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual exhibitions since. In 1999, his work was selected for the "North Country Confectionery Container Exhibition," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Tea Ceremony Modeling Exhibition" for the first time.
