Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who creates works of profound depth, following in the footsteps of the master sake vessel makers Rokuro and Shin Nakamura. While inheriting the lineage of these masters, this sake cup bears Kazuki's unique signature, incorporating a distinct style that differs from that of his father and grandfather. It is a deeply flavorful piece that faithfully inherits the appeal of the unique shallow sake cups of the Nakamura family, which are highly popular among sake enthusiasts. As an "oboro" (hazy) yohen (kiln-transmuted) piece, the focus is not on the front, but rather on the richly yellow-toned clay texture of the interior, which truly comes to life and reaches its full potential when sake is poured into it. The kiln-transmutation on the outer surface features a dull, carbonized silver luster subtly blended into a matte black, giving the piece a very refined and understated atmosphere. Diameter 8.3cm × Diameter 8.3cm × Height 3.4cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Shin Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to refine his ceramic skills. He fired his first kiln and became independent in 2006.
