Description
This is a brand-new Bizen sake cup, freshly fired from the kiln by Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki, an artist who continues to lead the world of Bizen ware with an inexhaustible creative spirit. It is a latest work completed after nine days and nine nights of firing in the Anagama kiln at Mt. Koya, which he restored alongside his father, Yozan, and his brother, Mitsuru. This piece features a remarkably rare and intense landscape characteristic of Anagama firing; in addition to an overwhelming amount of yellow sesame glaze covering almost the entire outer surface, droplets of natural glaze have fallen from the kiln wall, creating a kiln-transmutation effect with mysterious colors reminiscent of stalactites. The transmuted areas contain shades of yellow, purple, blue, and various others, creating an indescribably complex and fantastical palette. Furthermore, the yellow sesame glaze covering the exterior forms massive dripping patterns, lending it a dreamlike beauty akin to precious gems. The interior also features a generous flow of yellow sesame, as if scooping up gold dust, making this a vibrant sake cup with an ever-changing landscape.

Diameter 6.4cm × 6.4cm × Height 7.0cm This is a brand-new Bizen beer mug, freshly fired from the kiln by Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki, an artist who continues to lead the world of Bizen ware with an inexhaustible creative spirit. It is a latest work completed after nine days and nine nights of firing in the Anagama kiln at Mt. Koya, which he restored alongside his father, Yozan, and his brother, Mitsuru. This piece exhibits a well-balanced array of characteristics typical of Anagama firing, showcasing a finish that represents Isezaki Bizen at its best, including sesame glaze, hidasuki (fire cord) patterns, scorched sesame, and a gradation of white clay and scarlet. The straw was applied diagonally, and the way the hidasuki wraps around the mug makes one lose track of time while following the flow of the cord with their eyes. The interior also features a landscape typical of an Anagama kiln, with beautiful, dry yellow sesame cascading directly into the base; the sesame forms golden grains like softly accumulating snow, making the act of finishing a beer all the more enjoyable. Although labeled as a beer mug on the box, it can also be used as a tea cup.
