Description

This is a new Bizen black sake cup by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds his life's joy in creating pieces and firing kilns. This Bizen black sake cup features the painted clay technique that is Baba's specialty, showcasing a highly transparent black color accented with beautifully melted yellow sesame-like ash glaze (goma). True to an artist who loves creating Bizen ware, the entire piece is adorned with free-spirited and lively spatula marks that truly look as if the tool is "dancing with joy." Each of the four corners of the gentle square shape features a unique spatula carve, giving each side a distinct expression. The foot is also highly original, with an interesting design that resembles a hexagonal bolt screwed into the base. Signed wooden box (shihozan) included
Diameter 6.8cm × 6.7cm × Height 5.2cm Takashi Baba was born in 1983 as the eldest son of Bizen ware artist Shosuke Baba.
