Description

This new Bizen tea cup is the work of Kazuki Nakamura, a potter who carries on the lineage of his grandfather, the master sake vessel maker Rokuro Nakamura, and his father, Makoto Nakamura, creating works of deep, resonant character. While following in the footsteps of these masters of sake vessel craftsmanship, this tea cup is distinctly Kazuki’s own, infusing his unique aesthetic—different from that of his father and grandfather—into the style. Inheriting the wide-rimmed design favored by his grandfather Rokuro, this cup is also perfectly suited for enjoying shochu, as befits a product of this prestigious family of sake vessel makers. The remarkably light, deft carving on the rim and foot provides a wonderful accent, imbuing the piece with a subtle, exquisite allure rarely found in a simple tea cup. The clay itself is extremely fine-grained, and as it is used, it will become more familiar and transform into an increasingly soft, smooth texture. Paper box
