Description

This newly fired Bizen sake bottle is the work of Kazuki Nakamura, a potter who carries on the legacy of master sake vessel artisans Rokuro and Makoto Nakamura to create works of profound depth. While following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, this bottle bears Kazuki’s signature style, subtly incorporating a unique aesthetic distinct from his predecessors. This latest piece, pulled from the kiln just this past June, is a tour de force featuring exquisite kiln-transmutation effects. It retains the beautiful "hi-iro" (scarlet) hue characteristic of the Nakamura family, while masterfully layering on a rich ash-covered kiln effect; the exquisite firing balance allows for the simultaneous enjoyment of top-tier scarlet tones and kiln-transmutation patterns. The molten-like scarlet deepens and brightens when moistened with sake, as if the fire trapped within the clay is being rekindled by the alcohol. Its solid, stable form is a testament to his skill, and one can clearly feel the spirit of Rokuro Nakamura, sure to captivate both Bizen enthusiasts and sake lovers alike. Original wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
