Description

This is a brand new Bizen sake cup, fresh from the kiln, created by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist whose work carries on the legacy of the master sake vessel makers Rokuro and Makoto Nakamura, yet possesses its own profound depth. While following in the footsteps of these masters, Kazuki brings his own unique touch to his craft, distinct from that of his father and grandfather. This latest work, fired this past June, is a sake cup of remarkable character, featuring a dry-textured *kase* kiln-altered scarlet hue. Retaining the beautiful scarlet color characteristic of the Nakamura family, it displays a rich, ash-covered kiln-alteration on the left side and a light dusting of *kase* sesame glaze on the right, offering different scenery from every angle. The interior also features a variety of kiln-alterations over a base of scarlet clay, making it perfect for enhancing the appearance of sake. Signed wooden box (double-braced)
Diameter 7.6cm x 7.5cm x Height 4.6cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to refine his ceramic techniques. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
