Description
This is a new Bizen mythical beast tripod sake cup by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create works that suit modern life. It features a unique three-legged design reminiscent of an ancient Chinese *ding* (tripod vessel), with the legs crafted in a mystical design based on mythical beasts. The piece fully demonstrates Nakahara's masterful modeling skills, resulting in an atmospheric creation that looks like a miniature version of a *ding*; when filled with sake, you will feel as if you have become a giant. The firing is a Sue ware-style finish achieved through a strong reduction process to match the style, and the gradated gray tones play a role in creating the work's unique atmosphere.
