Description

These new Oribe-hidaski cup and saucer sets are created by Koji Nakahara, a protégé of Fumio Kawabata, with the goal of crafting pieces that suit modern life. The pieces combine the practicality and stain resistance of Oribe glazing with the unique character and evolving patina of Bizen clay. While the inner surface preserves the natural beauty of the Bizen clay, the outer surface is finished with a refreshing Oribe glaze, perfect for a cooling effect during the hot summer months, further enhancing the vessel's overall quality. A subtle hidaski (fire cord) pattern is featured in the center of the cup, allowing the user to enjoy the shifting hues of the glaze and the way the hidaski pattern itself "matures" over time. The handle reflects Mr. Nakahara’s meticulous attention to detail, carefully thinned to the limit for comfortable handling while maintaining its sturdy construction. Paper box
