Description
This Bizen sake cup is by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of the esteemed Kosuke Kaneshige, a leading figure of the Kaneshige lineage. Staying true to the family tradition, this piece is crafted from clay refined entirely by hand—without the use of any pug mills—and aged for decades before use. The exquisite, melting scarlet hue conveys the superb quality of the clay, as if the cup itself has become intoxicated. The overall ash-glazed finish is incredibly smooth and tactile, a testament to the meticulous care characteristic of the Kaneshige family that makes it hard to put down. With its simple, earnest style, this work allows you to purely enjoy the essence of Bizen ware: the expression of the clay.
