Description

This is a new Bizen three-headed snake lid rest by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create works that suit modern life. The finish is reminiscent of ancient Egyptian ritual vessels, and the realistic snake design, rarely seen in Bizen ware, makes this a one-of-a-kind piece. Beyond its use as a lid rest, it can be put to various creative uses, such as a luxurious pen stand utilizing the ring in the center. The entire piece is covered in a beautiful silver glaze, which, combined with the white-gray clay surface, makes it look as if the entire work has been coated in platinum. The texture is rough overall, and combined with the subtly shimmering, mysterious surface, it perfectly matches the three-headed snake design. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 6.7cm × 6.7cm × Height 6.4cm Koji Nakahara was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1978. He graduated from the Advanced Course of Nara College of Arts in 2000 and the Bizen Ceramic Center in 2001. Since then, he has actively exhibited his work at the Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition and various other public exhibitions. He is currently an associate member of the Japan Kōgei Association.
