Description
This is a newly fired Bizen small bowl by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Kouriki, a former live-in apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. This latest work, from a kiln opening in early summer 2019, is a convenient, versatile size that makes it a delight to use. The center features a remarkably vivid scarlet hue, much like that of a sake vessel, which becomes even more polished and enjoyable when wet—a beauty that persists even after the bowl is empty. The outer rim displays a "kase-goma" (crusty ash glaze) that resembles fine, powdery snow, with a sophisticated grey-green tone that further accentuates the scarlet center.
