Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
"Hikidashi" refers to the process of removing work from the kiln while it is still firing.
Works exposed to the outside air cool rapidly, resulting in a color different from standard Bizen ware.
In this piece, the pine ash deposits become transparent, resembling amber.
This is a white work, as it uses a special white clay harvested in Inbe.
The black section is coated with a special clay and turns indigo due to the hikidashi effect.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active since 2000.
