Description
Takashi Soga researches old Bizen ware and uses it as inspiration for his creative work.
He does not use any kiln tools made with modern chemical materials.
He aims to recreate in his studio the environment in which old Bizen ware was originally made.
His work, produced in this unique environment, bears a striking resemblance to old Bizen ware.
This piece is his new Guinomi, which was just fired in July 2020.
A mysterious Yohen-like black soot is added to his signature astringent Hidasuki.
He was born in Tokyo in 1984.
He became a disciple of Jun Isezaki in 2009.
He built a kiln in Bizen City in 2012 and debuted as a ceramic artist the following year.
