Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This new piece was fired in 2021.
"Hikidashi" refers to the technique of removing a piece from the kiln while it is still firing.
Because the piece is exposed to the outside air, it cools rapidly, resulting in a color different from standard Bizen ware.
In this work, the pine ash that has adhered to the surface becomes transparent, resembling amber.
Furthermore, this piece is white because it uses a special white clay collected in Inbe.
The white body emphasizes the pale color of the vitreous ash.
The pale green and amber tones cover the entire piece, creating a truly beautiful effect.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active since 2000.
