Description
Koichiro Isezaki is Jun Isezaki's eldest son.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
There is an opening in the center of the anagama for adding small pieces of firewood.
The firewood added during the firing process created the black flame patterns on this work.
It is a vibrant "yohen" (kiln transformation) with colors distinct from those produced in a noborigama kiln.
The design resembles a smaller tea bowl.
Though very quiet and understated, its spherical form is truly beautiful.
Born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and began his professional practice in 2000.
