Description

Takashi Soga researches antique Bizen ware and uses it as inspiration for his creative work.
He does not use any kiln tools made with modern chemical materials.
He aims to recreate the environment in which antique Bizen ware was produced within his own atelier.
His work, created in this unique environment, bears a strong resemblance to antique Bizen ware.
This piece is his new glazed ceramic, which was just fired in December 2021.
The surface is a silvery clay color, and the natural glaze, carried by the flames, has been baked into the blackened surface.

He was born in Tokyo in 1984.
He became a disciple of Jun Isezaki in 2009.
He built a kiln in Bizen City in 2012 and began his career as a ceramic artist the following year.
