Description
This is a Yunomi by Yu Fujiwara.
He did not usually produce and sell Yunomi.
I believe this piece was made specifically at a customer's request for a special occasion.
The simple cylindrical design is typical of his work.
The reddish hidasuki, a characteristic of the Fujiwara family, is also wonderful.
It is a new, unused piece from his middle period.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1932 as the eldest son of Kei Fujiwara.
He was designated a Living National Treasure in 1996.
(The first time in the ceramics industry that both parent and child have received this designation.)
He passed away in 2001.
