Description
Mitsuru Isezaki is one of the potters who inherited the Bizen ware tradition redeveloped by Toyo Kaneshige.
His pottery style is simple and unadorned, showcasing the natural quality of the clay.
This piece was fired by him around 2004.
The surface of this yunomi features a rainbow-colored kiln effect known as "Kinsai" (gold coloring).
Due to the influence of the Kinsai, the hidasuki (fire-cord) markings have also taken on a metallic hue.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1934.
He was recognized as a Prefecturally Designated Important Intangible Cultural Property in 1998.
He passed away in 2011.
