Description
Koichiro Isezaki is Jun Isezaki's eldest son.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This Guinomi was fired in July 2023.
"Hikidashi" means taking the work out of the kiln during the firing process.
Works that touch the outside air cool rapidly, resulting in a different color than standard Bizen ware.
In this piece, the attached (pine) ash becomes transparent and resembles amber.
The black section is coated with special clay and takes on an indigo hue due to the Hikidashi effect.
The simple design allows you to fully appreciate the indigo beauty of this Guinomi.
In the past, Bizen ware had never been used to express the universe or the sky.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in NY and has been active since 2000.
