Description

Shuroku Harada studied antique Bizen ware.
He was a student of ceramics researcher Matasaburo Katsura.
The knowledge he gained forms the foundation of his pottery style.
He has not fired a kiln in recent years.
This suribachi was fired in his kiln around 2010.
The surface was baked in a high-temperature fire until it turned glass-like.
Various fire patterns appear across different parts of the piece.
It can be used both as tableware and as a sake server.
When pouring sake, it may drip slightly, but it is good to let it soak into the clay surface.

He was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1941.
He became a potter in 1969.
He became a disciple of Matasaburo Katsura in 1975 and studied Old Bizen.
He passed away in 2024.
