Description
Shuroku Harada studied old Bizen ware.
He was a student of ceramics researcher Matasaburo Katsura.
The knowledge he gained serves as the foundation for his pottery style.
He has not fired a kiln in recent years.
Most of his guinomi were created by coiling tubular clay.
There were some exceptions, however, in which he made small, shot glass-shaped guinomi.
These guinomi were thrown on a potter's wheel and are very thin.
While deformed by intense flames, they also feature splendid fire patterns.
He was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1941.
He became a potter in 1969.
In 1975, he became a disciple of Matasaburo Katsura and studied Old Bizen.
