Description

Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This guinomi was fired in September 2024.
"Hikidashi" refers to the process of removing work from the kiln during firing.
Pieces that come into contact with the outside air cool rapidly, resulting in a different color than standard Bizen ware.
On this piece, the melted pine ash becomes transparent, resembling amber.
The black section is coated with special clay and turns indigo due to the hikidashi effect.
The simple design allows the indigo beauty of this guinomi to take center stage.
In the past, Bizen ware had never been used to express the universe or the sky.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active since 2000.
