Description
Yuho Kaneshige is the third son of Sozan Kaneshige.
He inherited the Inbe house and kiln from his father.
He originally presented works in the traditional Kaneshige style.
However, around 2018, he embarked on a new challenge.
He demolished the kiln inherited from his father and built a more primitive one.
This tokkuri is a piece that was fired in this primitive kiln in November 2024.
This tokkuri features both the elegant colors of the Kaneshige style and the bold colors of antique Bizen ware.
The spherical-looking body actually has many bumps and indentations, indicating that it was assembled using highly advanced techniques.
The work displays many wonderful fire patterns, with the color of the base being particularly outstanding.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1950 as the third son of Sozan Kaneshige.
He became his father's apprentice in 1975.
He became independent as a ceramic artist in 1980.
