Description
Koichiro Isezaki is the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He uses a tunnel-shaped kiln called an "anagama."
This new work was fired in November 2023.
It is made using special white clay collected in the Inbe area.
Although he fired it without glaze, the components of the white clay produced fire patterns with colors distinct from traditional Bizen ware.
The outer surface has a luster as if coated with glass.
The originally yellow or brown "goma" (ash glaze), which resembles gold, has shifted to a muddy white or translucent blue.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, in 1974 as the eldest son of Jun Isezaki.
He graduated from Tokyo Zokei University in 1996.
He studied ceramics in New York and has been active since 2000.
