Kei Fujiwara's turtle-shaped incense container

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

Today, I would like to introduce a precious piece from a client's collection.
It is an adorable turtle-shaped incense container (kogo) by Kei Fujiwara.
It is well known that Kei favored making turtle ornaments in his later years, and they often appear in his exhibition catalogs.
However, this particular shape is extremely rare; when I asked Keisuke Fujiwara about it, he remarked, "They are very scarce, and I remember my father working hard on them while sitting at the kotatsu."
The rustic workmanship characteristic of Kei and the dry, weathered quality of the matte glaze match this turtle design beautifully—it is quite intriguing.
