Bizen Sake Cup by Yoshiteru Takariki

Today, I would like to introduce a new Bizen sake cup by Mr. Koriki.
I fell in love with this piece at first sight when I visited for the recent kiln opening.
Its rounded, egg-like form pairs perfectly with the low, neatly trimmed foot.
The "yohen" (kiln change) effect, which looks like it has bubbled up, is centered around the foot and waist; while the area it covers is small, the balance is superb.
This piece taught me not to judge a work simply by the presence of large, perfectly round kiln changes, but rather to shift my perspective by considering the balance of the clay, the firing, and the craftsmanship.
Naturally, the interior also features a soft orange clay tone, making it a perfect vessel for showcasing sake.

size: 6.4cm diameter x 6.3cm diameter x 6.0cm height
price: 15,000 yen (tomobako wooden box currently in production)
